Finnegan Michael
~ Finnegan Michael McCauley ~
Three and a half days ago, on October 2nd 2012, our little boy came into this world at 3:59 am, weighing in at 7 pounds 7 ounces and measuring 19.75 inches. Almost three weeks early, he couldn't wait to get here and we couldn't wait to meet him. The entire experience was a little bit of a whirlwind - I had a full three weeks of patients scheduled, baby laundry to wash and prepare and mentally prepare for this transition. So when I started to have contractions Monday afternoon, I ran around trying to pack my bag and quickly get the house and baby bag ready.
We checked into the hospital at 9:30 pm and Finn was born just a few hours later. Though, smaller than Elise by almost one pound, he has many features that ressemble our little girl only a little darker, perhaps mommy will get one that resembles her a little bit. With his brown hair, sweet little chin and chubby cheecks he is absolutely perfect and we are so so in love.
Big sister, Elise, is giving kisses left and right and loves to identify all of his facial features (not always so gently) pointing out "eyes, nose and mouth". It wouldn't be fair to say she's not jealous of sharing the spot light and some of "her" things including the changing table and on occasion her crib.
We are definately in transition mode and adjusting to being a family of four. We have been spoiled by both of our parents with visits, presents, shuttling and baby sitting of Elise and lots and lots of love. Lucie has been our personal care taker this whole week as she quickly drove over the pass just in time Monday night to get to the hospital just as we were checking in and has been here since - she is simply amazing and has made this transition so much smoother.

last few weeks as three
It has been a whirlwind of a September and I cannot believe tomorrow October is here, which means only 3 weeks until baby boy is due to arrive. However, with the size of my growing belly, which expands by the minute these days, I have no idea how I will hold out until October 21st.
After escaping the smoke the past two weekends with trips to Seattle, it was so nice to have a weekend to stay put. We painted baby's room, visited with grandparents at the cabin in Chelan, some more painting, an afternooon in Leavenworth and a quick family photo shoot at my parents'. I realized I have not documented this baby bump at all and so at 37 weeks wanted an official profile photo :)

and we thought she'd be 16
at least.... on her first date.
Elise had her first date.. a solo car ride with Canyon in his four wheel-drive Escalade. Breaking all the rules... no car seats, no seat belts and driving under the age limit.... I have to say that these two were absolutely irresistibly adorable and Elise was in heaven and perhaps a little in love, with the car that is:)
See you later mama!
Max, Canyon's younger brother, took her for a spin in his sporty Jeep!
This one had to be chaperoned, since there were no doors:)
last minute escape for fresh air
I can still smell the freshness of the ocean air looking through these pictures and am longing that it somehow makes its way over to Wenatchee. It was a completely last minute getaway to Seattle this past weekend as the heavy smoke in town was just getting to be too much; we feel so lucky to have my sister's house to stay in and found refuge in a low key weekend of our favorite things in Seattle.

18 month check up
It seems as though every time we have a doctors appointment on the calendar, someone comes down with a cold/flu or in this case an ear infection. Though it's the first one since January, yay for such a long stretch of being healthy, it is either very lucky or a quirky coincidence that the doctors appointment is already made.
Our little sweet pea has grown a whole 1.5 pounds since her last check up 4 months ago... must be all the crackers and cheese:) Her stats are 22.4 lbs, 31.5 inches tall and 19 inches head circumference.
This is what we plan to do the next day as we recover, play house!

Beautiful wedding at Beacher Hill
What a fun and special night - beautiful bride and groom, amazing venue and company of dear friends, some we haven't seen in months. It was a lovely evening, right down to the lightning and rain showers. I am bumbed I have no pictures of the bride and groom but they were absolutely lovely as you can imagine.
