Finn's 1st and Elise's 2nd trip to the Zoo

The sunshine was shining and most of the animals were out showing their stripes and furry coats this past weekend.  Elise is learning all about the jungle animals at school (day care) and so we went to take a live look at the Safari at Woodland Park Zoo.  Elise was in heaven and Finn happily snoozed his way through the whole experience (much like Eli did 1.5 years ago).

Auntie Lucie joined us and Elise loved nothing more than riding her back and climbing all over her.  She calls Lucie "Huci" and so it is always "Huci do it, noooo Huci kiss it"!

The Cat in the Hat party

It was fitting this year that Elise's 2nd birthday party was a celebration of Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat and by coincidence March 2nd was also Dr. Seuss's birthday.   Elise LOVES the cat in the hat and always requests to watch "Go Go", as she calls the show.  We had such a fun party... this year Eli was much more into it and loved playing with her friends and equally we loved visiting with family and friends as well.  Thank you for such a special day.

Daddy was the leader of present opening this year... shall we just say it was almost more fun watching him;)

5 months old Finnegan

Our sweet boy is five months old.  Cannot believe that the half year mark is a short month away.

Just about two weeks ago at 4.5 months you rolled over from your tummy to your back for the first time.  You love the independence of being on your back or tummy and observing the happenings all around you, especially your big sister.  She will always be your big sister, but we have a feeling that as far as size goes, you may be her big brother soon:)  You are so sweet to one another and you are so tolerant of her sitting on you and actually squeal in delight when she does so.  You have really started to express yourself both with facial expressions and cooing and squealing noises.  You are also developing a routine of taking 3 naps throughout the day and falling asleep at 8 pm (though you still wake up every 2 hours at night).  We love you so very much our little Finnegan.

Only a few minutes after we took these photos you had an explosion of poop out of your diaper... let's hope mommy can get the yellow poop stain out (since this is JP's cute borrowed onesie)

A special weekend

A special weekend to celebrate grandpa Terry brought us all together and the love from everyone was felt all around.  It was heartfelt, special, soulful and sad.

In honor of grandpa, the net on his tennis court was assembled and rallies exchanged.  He would have been so proud of his little granddaughter testing out her tennis skills.  Cannot wait to play on this very special court this spring again.

Even the trike got a few laps around the court, both Finn and Elise, and the rest of us, will enjoy it.

Happy 2nd Birthday to our Elise

Elise Ana ~ Happy 2nd birthday!

Our baby girl, we are so proud of your charming, witty, mischievous, sweet, patient and caring personality.  We (daddy and mommy) brag to each other how you are the perfect blend of sweet and trouble.  Your vocabulary is growing exponentially, using up to 4 word phrases -

"Wove you"
"Thas bettle" (That's better)
"I like it, bagel"
"One mo cookie, las one"
"Daddy do it"
"wight here, kiss it"
"mo chase"
"popoo, yucky"
"Hurray" (when you go potty)
"watch, Go Go" (Cat in the Hat)
"mommy, sit wight here"
"mommy.... puuuushhhh" (when you want me to get away)
"I do it"
"Dobri" (Good in Czech)
"Huci" (Lucie)
"Trabit" (Travis)

Your understanding in Czech is equal to that of English, although your speech is a little slower (mommy needs to work on that, as does babi, deda and Lucie).

You eat only pasta, cheese, crackers, cookies, bagels, bread, cereal and yogurt.

You love to play with your baby dolls, making them go night night all times of the day.  Lately your baby dolls must have been misbehaving as I have seen you be quite stern with them saying "skootch over, no night night, eyes close, lie down" with quite a stern voice:)

You love the doggies in your life - Sadie, Carlie, Luna and Lulu.

Your teacher at daycare, Miss Theresa, is your favorite and you are excited to see her when we go.  Your friends at school: Peter, Ashur, Cassie, Riley and Morgan are your buddies.

You are waking up every night between 3-6 am, eat a strawberry Nutrigrain bar, drink a cup of milk and go back to bed until 7:30/8 am.

You love bedtime routine, reading books, but mostly singing with baby brother as he lies beside you.

Your two hair twirls, callucks, spin your hair in opposite directions and make for a feathery mess since you despise any hair pins or elastics in your hair.  Absolutely adorable.

You LOVE your baby brother and are such a good big sister.  You have learned to be gentle, and have only bitten him two or three times.  You always say "Finn, cwy" when he is crying and you rush to console him and make sure he is ok.  Often, your first word in the morning is "look Finn, sleeping".

You love your grandparents and spending time at their homes.  Last month you spent three nights at grandma Connies and three nights and babi and deda's; I don't think you wanted to come home after all that fun.  But I missed you so so much.

We love you more and more every day and feel honored and so blessed to have you as our own.  Happy Birthday beautiful girl.
